The making of... Distant

This is the monochrome edition just using the key plate, I really liked the fullness of the image and the way the flowers flowed across the figure. I decided to use a flow of green to enhance this and use cooler colours to push the figure back.

I cut out some easy cut lino to separate the colours for the colour layer.

Each part of this layer was carved into to preserve the highlights. I applied the inks with a tiny roller to get the different shades of green, I was definitely in an experimental mood this day!

I inked up the blue, purple layer in the same way so you can see where the different tones lie underneath the key plate. The white areas are those that I carved before adding the colour.

This one was fun to create and I love the painterly feel in the colours, although it definitely was another tricky one!
