This is a hand-carved linocut print of a striking blue carnation, the birth flower for January. Blue carnations, though not naturally occurring, are often created through artificial means and symbolize mystery, uniqueness, and the impossible.

They represent a desire for the unattainable and a celebration of individuality.

I think this print truly captures that sense of elegance and the allure of something special. The original print showcases the flower's majestic unfurling petals, creating a beautiful focal point.

The cool tones of the blue carnation are beautifully complemented by the warm, subtle orange background, creating a unique and eye-catching contrast. It's printed on gorgeous, sea grey mulberry paper, which has lovely flecks of plant fibres throughout, adding to the natural feel of the piece. I use lightfast oil-based inks for a rich, lasting colour.

This is a limited edition print of 50. Because each print is hand-pulled and hand-burnished using a baren (no printing press here!), there may be slight variations, making each one truly unique. This adds to the special, handmade nature of each piece.

The print itself fits a standard 10x8 inch frame, and the paper size is 21cm x 26cm. It comes mounted on flat cardboard and wrapped in biodegradable cellophane, so it'll arrive with you as beautifully as it leaves my studio.

Everything is hand-packaged by me, and it's posted flat in an A4 envelope, meaning it should fit right through your letterbox! I also like to wrap everything in tissue paper for that extra bit of care. Delivery is included for anything over £15.

To keep your linocut print looking its best, it's recommended to mount it within a frame, ensuring it doesn't touch the glass, and avoid displaying it in direct sunlight.

This carnation art print is part of a series I'm creating throughout 2025, capturing a different flower each month. I'm so excited to share this ongoing project with you!

The photos I've taken try to capture the colours as true to life as possible, but please remember that colours might vary slightly depending on your monitor settings.
